We know there can be a lot to think about when choosing your wedding venue, so we have pulled together the questions couples ask us most often. If you cannot find the answer you are looking for, just get in touch and we will be happy to help.

Pricing

Our hire fee covers exclusive use of Roodlea Barn and its grounds for your wedding day. The cost varies depending on the time of year, day of the week and the format of your wedding.
We have different rates for peak Saturdays, off-peak Saturdays, Wednesdays and Twilight Weddings. Winter and early spring packages are also available for selected dates.

The venue hire fee includes exclusive use of the barn, bar area, terrace and grounds, along with tables, chairs, lighting, sound system, bar staffing and an on-site contact throughout your day.
Catering is arranged separately for venue hire only weddings. Head to our What's Included page for the full breakdown.

Yes, we offer winter and early spring wedding packages for selected dates, which can help bring the main parts of your day together more simply.
These packages include catering for 50 guests and two nights in our Honeymoon Retreat, with additional guests added at a set price per person. For full details, head to our Winter Weddings page.

Yes, a £500 holding deposit is required to secure your date. The remaining balance is then split into two payments, due 18 months and 12 months before your wedding date.

The Venue

We can host up to 120 guests for your ceremony and sit-down meal, and up to 150 in the evening once the room has been reconfigured.

Yes, Roodlea Barn is exclusively yours from the moment your guests arrive until the end of the evening. No other events are hosted on the same day.

Yes, there is plenty of parking available on site for you and your guests.

Yes, outdoor ceremonies are available on our decking, with room for all your daytime guests. Given the Scottish weather, you can make that decision right up until the day before.
It is worth checking with suppliers such as florists, as their cut-off points for indoor and outdoor ceremonies may vary. Some floral installations may depend on whether your ceremony is taking place indoors or outdoors.

Yes, the barn is heated and has a warm, cosy feel during the winter months. We also have two fires, including our double-sided fireplace between the barn and bar area, and a stove in the bar.

Accommodation

Yes, we have two accommodation options on site.
Roodlea House sleeps up to 10 guests and is just a short walk from the barn, making it ideal for the night before and the night of your wedding.
We also have the Honeymoon Retreat, a one bedroom lodge with private decking, an outdoor bath, a wood burning stove and countryside views.

Accommodation is not included as standard with venue hire only weddings and can be added separately, subject to availability.
All winter and early spring packages include two nights in our Honeymoon Retreat.

Check-in is from 4pm and check-out is by 12pm.

Yes, many couples choose to get ready on site. Roodlea House works well for the morning of the wedding, and there is also a dressing room within the barn which can be used for getting ready and/or final touches before the ceremony.

Access & Setup

You can access the barn from 11am until 4pm the day before your wedding for setup and decorating. On the morning of your wedding, access is from 9:30am.
The following morning, you have until 12pm to collect anything you have brought with you.

Yes, anything you bring to the barn must be taken away with you. Collection access is from 10am until 12pm the day after your wedding.
If there are any items you think future couples might like to use and you are happy to leave behind, just check with us beforehand.

Yes, suppliers can access the venue from 11am until 4pm the day before your wedding, and from 9:30am on the morning of the wedding.

Catering

We do not provide catering ourselves for venue hire only weddings, which gives you the freedom to choose a caterer that suits your style and budget from our approved list.
We have a fully equipped on-site kitchen for your caterer's use, and a small per-person kitchen fee applies. Your catering team will also help with the room changeover between ceremony and meal, as our own team will be running the bar at that point.

Yes, we have a list of approved caterers who know the venue and how weddings work at Roodlea. This helps make sure your day runs smoothly from setup through to service.

No, your caterer will need to bring all cutlery, crockery and any linens you require.
We provide glassware for the tables during the meal as part of our bar service.

The Bar

We run and staff the bar ourselves throughout your day. We have a fully stocked bar with a wide range of spirits, beers, wines, prosecco and soft drinks.
Drinks packages are available and can be tailored to suit you, with your final choices confirmed around six weeks before your wedding.

Yes, we provide the glassware for your drinks reception, bar service and tables during the meal.

No, all alcohol on the day must be purchased through us. We do not offer corkage.
This applies to guests too, and anyone found to have brought their own alcohol onto the premises will be asked to leave.

On the Day
-
Yes, we can provide a master of ceremonies as part of your day. We also manage your ceremony music, so you can let us know your song choices for the bridal entrance, signing of the register and the exit, and we will take care of it on the day.

All music must finish by midnight.
When the band or DJ starts up in the evening, the bifold and fire doors will be closed to keep the volume comfortable for the surrounding area.

Unfortunately not. We have a lot of farm animals and wildlife surrounding us, so fireworks are not permitted at the venue.

Yes, we love a confetti moment. It must be biodegradable confetti and can only be used outdoors.
If your photographer is supplying confetti, please check with them that it meets this requirement.

We do not allow naked flames in the barn.
Any real candles must be in a container that completely surrounds and sits at least 2cm above the flame, such as hurricane vases or enclosed tea light holders. This applies to all decor and suppliers.

Twilight and Winter

A twilight wedding is an evening-led wedding that usually begins in the late afternoon, with the ceremony followed by drinks, photographs, evening food, music and dancing.

Twilight weddings at Roodlea are available on Wednesdays throughout the year, and Saturdays during the winter season.

Twilight weddings are designed around a relaxed evening buffet rather than a formal sit-down meal. Catering is arranged separately with your chosen supplier.

Our winter wedding packages are available in February, March, November and December for 2026 and 2027.

Yes. The barn is designed to host weddings throughout the year, including the winter months. We also have two fires: a double-sided fireplace between the barn and bar, and a stove in the bar area, helping the space feel warm and cosy throughout the day.

Viewings

Viewings can be booked directly through our website.
Head to our Book a Viewing page to see availability and choose a time that suits you. -
Viewings take no longer than 30 minutes. It is a relaxed, no-pressure look around the venue and a great chance to ask any questions you have.

During busy periods, Roodlea House and the Honeymoon Retreat may be occupied, so it is not always possible to view the accommodation in person.
We do have video tours and images available, which give you a clear feel for the spaces. You can find out more on our Accommodation page.
