VENUE HIRE PRICING
Venue hire includes exclusive use of Roodlea Barn. All prices include VAT.
Catering, drinks, décor and accommodation are booked separately unless included in a winter or early spring package.
Saturday twilight weddings are available during the low season.
Wednesday twilight weddings are available throughout the year.
TWILIGHT WEDDINGS
A twilight wedding is a relaxed, evening-led celebration with your ceremony, drinks, food and dancing all flowing into one evening.
Good to know about twilight weddings
A formal sit-down meal is not available
Food must be served as a buffet or through food trucks
Seating is informal and is not assigned
Depending on guest numbers, there may not be a seat for every evening guest
The ceremony and drinks reception can include up to 120 guests
Additional evening guests can arrive from approximately 7.00pm
The maximum evening capacity is 150 guests
WINTER & EARLY SPRING PACKAGES
Our winter and early spring packages bring together the main parts of your wedding in one clear price.
Created in partnership with Regis Banqueting, every package includes:
Packages are available for selected dates in February, March, November and December.
Additional guests — Full day catering: £55 per additional guest. Twilight evening buffet: £25 per additional guest.

BOOKING AND PAYMENT
We want the payment process to feel clear from the beginning.
Your exact payment dates will be included in your booking agreement.
A £500 non-refundable deposit is required to secure your wedding date.
Half of the remaining venue balance is due 18 months before your wedding date.
The final half of the remaining venue balance is due 12 months before your wedding date.
Booking after a payment milestone
If one or both payment milestones have already passed when you book, the relevant balance will be due one month after your £500 deposit has been paid. Any remaining future milestone will still be due on its original date.
Your booking agreement will always show the exact dates and amounts that apply to your wedding.
Finalising your plans
Around three months before your wedding, we’ll get in touch to start finalising the details of your day, including guest numbers, timings, suppliers, drinks and any Roodlea extras. All final details and applicable payments should be confirmed no later than six weeks before your wedding.
Drinks Packages
Our on-site bar is managed and staffed by the Roodlea team throughout your wedding.
We offer a fully stocked bar with a choice of spirits, beers, wines, prosecco, cocktails, soft drinks and alcohol-free alternatives.
Packages can be tailored to suit your plans, with final selections and guest numbers confirmed before your wedding.
As we operate the bar, all alcohol must be purchased through Roodlea Barn.
We do not offer corkage and alcohol cannot be brought into the venue by couples or guests.
We provide the glassware for your drinks reception, bar service and tables during the meal.
Décor & Styling
Our in-house styling service makes it easy to create a beautifully finished look using pieces that are already chosen to work within the barn.
You can hire individual items or build a fuller styling package around your colours, layout and plans for the day.
Our décor collection includes:

Candles and candle holders
Bud vases
Table styling pieces
Arches
Easels
Signs and props
Seat pads
You are also welcome to add your own décor or work with an external styling supplier.
CATERING
For venue hire only weddings, catering is arranged separately through one of our approved caterers.
Each caterer offers their own menus, service style and pricing, allowing you to choose an option that suits your wedding.
Your caterer must provide:
Catering staff
Crockery
Cutlery
Any table linen you require
Support with moving the tables during the room changeover
Please confirm these inclusions directly with your chosen caterer.
A kitchen and utilities charge of £4.50 plus VAT per guest is payable by your caterer for the use of the venue kitchen, appliances and utilities.
STAY AT ROODLEA
Both accommodation options can be added to your wedding booking. Roodlea House gives family or members of your wedding party space to stay and get ready together, while Roodlea Retreat offers a private countryside stay for two.
Roodlea House
A beautifully refurbished five-bedroom house sleeping up to ten guests, just a short walk from the barn.
With two living rooms and plenty of space throughout the house, different sides of the wedding party can get ready separately before coming together for the day.
Payment information
A £300 deposit is required to secure your booking
The remaining balance is due six weeks before your wedding
A separate refundable security deposit of £500 is due five days before your stay
The security deposit will be refunded within seven days of departure, following a successful check-out
Roodlea Retreat
A private one-bedroom lodge with countryside views, its own decking, an outdoor bath and a wood-burning stove. It is a peaceful place to spend your first night together before taking the following morning at your own pace.
Payment information
A £300 payment is required to secure your booking
This is held as a refundable security deposit
The remaining accommodation balance is due six weeks before your wedding
The security deposit will be refunded within seven days of departure, following a successful check-out

We normally host a Roodlea Barn open day around February or March.
Our open day is the best opportunity to return with family or your wedding party and spend more time exploring the venue together.

The date changes each year, so keep an eye on our website and social media for the announcement.
Self-guided return visits
If you are unable to attend the open day, you can also book a short self-guided return visit on selected Sundays.
Couples who have already attended their initial viewing can also book a short self-guided return visit. These visits last approximately 30 minutes and are available for the couple and up to four additional guests, with a maximum of six people in total.
A self-guided visit can be used to:
Show close family or your wedding party around
Look at the layout again
Take measurements
Discuss ideas for your day
These visits are unsupervised, so a member of the Roodlea team will not be available to repeat the full guided viewing or answer questions during your appointment.
GOOD TO KNOW
A few practical details that couples often ask us about before booking.

You and your suppliers can access the barn from 11.00am until 4.00pm on the day before your wedding.
Access is available again from 9.30am on the morning of your wedding.
Anything you bring into the venue must be removed the following morning.
Collection access is available from 10.00am until 12 noon.
If you are styling the barn yourselves, tables will be numbered or labelled to help you identify where everything should be placed.
Table runners and other items that sit across individual tables should be separated by table, as tables may need to be moved individually during the room changeover.

A member of the Roodlea team will be there on your wedding day to oversee the venue, coordinate our staff and help things run smoothly. We don’t provide a full wedding planning or coordination service, so if you would like support with supplier management, detailed timelines or wider planning, you may wish to work with a wedding planner or coordinator.Item description

Around three months before your wedding, we will begin discussing your layout with you.
Your final table plan should be confirmed no later than six weeks before the wedding so that we can check that the proposed arrangement works within the room.
For full day weddings with a ceremony at Roodlea, we will normally prepare layouts for your ceremony, your meal, your evening reception, and room changeovers.
For full day weddings, allow approximately one hour and 30 minutes between the ceremony and meal, and one hour between the meal and evening reception.
Guests normally move into the bar area while the Roodlea team and your catering staff reset the main hall.
Your catering team is expected to assist with moving tables during the ceremony-to-meal changeover, while the Roodlea team manages the layout and runs the bar.
Twilight weddings use a different evening-led layout, as explained earlier on this page.

We have sound systems in the main barn and bar area, along with a microphone that can be used for speeches.
We can manage your ceremony and background music through our system.
Before your wedding, we will ask you to provide your chosen music or Spotify playlists for guest arrival, your ceremony entrance, signing the schedule or register, your ceremony exit, drinks and photographs, and your meal.
Your DJ can normally connect to the venue sound system.
Bands will usually need to provide their own equipment, so they should confirm their requirements with us before the wedding.
All music must finish by midnight.
Once evening entertainment begins, the barn’s external doors must remain closed to help manage noise. Larger amplified sound systems cannot be used outdoors. If you are planning outdoor live music, please check the setup with us in advance.

Lighting can be adjusted throughout the day, with colour-changing spotlights in the main barn and disco lighting available for the evening. Fairy lights in the barn are also included.

Available for your wedding: 25 trestle tables measuring approximately 3ft by 6ft, 150 cross-back chairs, four indoor whisky barrels, and one moveable outdoor whisky barrel.
Two indoor barrels are normally kept within the bar area.
The remaining barrels can be used for items such as flowers, signage or your wedding cake.

Outdoor ceremonies can take place on our decking and can accommodate up to 100 guests.
Because the Scottish weather can be unpredictable, the final decision can be made up until the day before your wedding.
Please check any decision deadlines with your florist or other suppliers, particularly where different installations may be required for an indoor or outdoor ceremony.

Biodegradable confetti is welcome outdoors.
Confetti cannot be used inside the barn.
Naked flames are not permitted.
Real candles must be placed inside a container that fully surrounds the flame and extends at least 2cm above it.
Fireworks are not permitted due to the animals and wildlife surrounding the venue.

The Roodlea team runs and staffs the bar throughout your wedding.
We provide glassware for your drinks reception, the bar, and wine and water on the tables during your meal.
All alcohol must be supplied by Roodlea Barn.

We can host up to 120 guests for your ceremony and meal and up to 150 guests for the evening reception.
Where evening guests take your total above 120, they should arrive once the room has been changed into its evening layout.
